People who dive, are generally people who prefer bonfires on the beach over cocktails on the concrete. Working as a dive instructor you will immediately join a tribe of divers who do things a bit differently.
The process of learning in diving is rewarding and ongoing. Once you are an instructor it doesn’t stop there. You can specialise in an area that interests you - technical diving, photography, wreck diving, even marine sciences.
Gone are the days where you need to sweat for 2 hours in the gym just to sit 8 hours at a desk. As a diver you will be moving, getting paid to stay active and promoting healthy lifestyles in the community.

Our NZQA Approved qualifications package up all of the required industry qualifications, essential skills and dive experience you will need to employed anywhere in the world.
“A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor” and that is certainly true for diving. In our beautiful southern ocean conditions you will be tested in all sorts of conditions during your training. You will develop into a highly skilled diver making you employable all over the world.
Dive Otago is New Zealand's only PADI 5 STAR Career Development Centre (CDC). Our experienced staff have been training dive instructors and starting careers for over 20 years. Our purpose built diver training facility is a one stop shop with classrooms, an onsite heated pool (25°C+), retail shop and dive boat.
We have a graduate network that operates in dives centres all over the world. We have an online forum and are frequently and pro-actively linking graduates to employment opportunities. We have other New Zealand dive centres looking to employ our graduates even before they complete their programme. In the past two years alone students have gained employment in New Zealand, Cayman Islands, Great Barrier Reef, Ningaloo Reef, Tonga, Malta.
